Dual
Degree Program Between
EJBSPP and
NJIT
MCRP and MIP
Policy
In 2004 The New Jersey Institute of Technology and the Rutgers UIniversity Edward J.
Bloustein School of Planning and
Public Policy entered into an agreement to establish a dual degree
program
leading to the MIP at NJIT and the MCRP at EJBPPP.
General
Guidelines
Students will affiliate
primarily with either school.
Students
will pay tuition to
the host school, only.
There
will be no exchange of
tuition monies between the schools.
Students
must be admitted as
degree students at both institutions at the appropriate time, before
taking a
course at either institution.
All
courses taken at both
institutions will show on the transcripts of both schools, but only 6
credits
will be transferred from the host school to the home school.
Procedures
For students affiliated with
EJBSPPP.
Students
admitted to the MCRP and wishing to earn the MIP must be admitted to
the MIP
program at NJIT, and will register for courses at EJBSPP and, when
taking
coursework at NJIT, will register for 34:001:817, BA, E credits, for the number of credits they are taking at
NJIT. NJIT will develop registration
procedures for the students and will ensure that their tuition and fee
charges
are waived.
Prior
to completion of the
Rutgers portion of the MCRP program the dean’s office will notify the
Graduate
Registrar in New Brunswick to add twelve transfer credits for specific
courses
taken at NJIT.
Upon
completion of the MIP
program, the student will request that a transcript from NJIT be sent
to the
dean’s office at Bloustein. The dean’s
office will send a memo to the New Brunswick Graduate Registrar asking
that the
courses and titles be entered on the Rutgers transcript as exchange courses. The GPA and
degree credit indicators
should be set to N. (The courses that
have previously been transferred from NJIT will not be entered as
exchange
courses.) The
following comment will be added to the
Narrative screen: “Student was
enrolled in a dual degree program
leading to the MIP degree at NJIT and the MCRP.” The
external transcript print indicator
for all iterations of 34:001:817 will be set to N at this time. The MCRP will be added to the
transcript
in accordance with existing degree posting procedures.
For students affiliated with
NJIT. Students
admitted to the MIP program and wishing
to earn the MCRP must be admitted to the MCRP program.
Students will register for courses as
Bloustein students. Students must be
identified to the Rutgers Registrar as dual degree students in this
program. The Registrar will code the
students with a special billing code (to
be created). Tuition and fees will
be waived based on the billing code. The
MCRP will be added to the transcript in accordance with existing degree
posting
procedures. The following comment
will be added to the Narrative screen:
“Student was enrolled in a dual degree
program leading to the MIP degree at NJIT and the MCRP.” {see
question
above.}
NJIT will develop
procedures
for generating charges and billing these students at NJIT rates for
coursework
taken at Rutgers.
NJIT
will develop procedures
for listing all Rutgers courses on the NJIT transcript and for the transferring of 12 credits from the MCRP program.
Authority
This program was approved by
the Deans and Vice Presidents for Academic Affairs at both institutions.
