Students with prerequisite, time conflicts and maximum credit override problems must add these courses IN PERSON at the Registrar's Office according to the Registration Schedule. Please refer to the RTTRS instruction sheet found in the schedule of classes if you are doubtful about the procedure.
The Semester Access Codes are: "9" for the Fall Term; "1" for the Spring Term; "7" for the Summer Term; and "0" for the WinterSession. Your Personal Access Code (PAC) was initially established using the first four digits of your birthday (month/day). If this information was not available, your PAC was set to 0101. You may Change your PAC Online, or by coming in person to the Registrar's Office and presenting two forms of identification. We are unable to change or provide PAC's over the telephone.
Remember -- the # (pound sign) key must be pushed after each transaction to signal the computer you have completed that transaction. The # sign enters your course into the database.
If the course you want to add is closed or requires special permission, you must contact (either by phone or in person) the department offering the course to determine their special permission process. If the department allows you to take their closed or restricted course, they will issue you a random one-time use 6-digit SPECIAL PERMISSION NUMBER. You will need this number regardless of whether you use RTTRS, webreg, or go in person to a terminal. You may call RTTRS as many times as needed throughout the Unrestricted Add/Drop Registration Period to complete your registration.
Use ACTION CODE 2 for all adds. To add a course by phone using the Special Permission Number, enter ACTION CODE 2 and the 5-digit index number XXXXX# (pound sign) XXXXXX (Special Permission Number)# (pound sign). Graduate Students who wish to register for a course using a credit prefix should contact the Graduate Registrar (732-445-3557) for instructions.
Each Special Permission Number is unique to the course/section and may
be used only ONCE.
If you give this number to another student, and they use it, you will
be unable to use this same number. When you use a special permission number
to register, it becomes part of your registration record. If you need to
change sections of a course you already have, use ACTION
CODE 2. Never drop the course - adding a new section will automatically
drop the original section.
When entering or changing "By Arrangement Credits" for a BA course, please enter the credits according to the following examples: 1 cr=010; 3 cr=030; 6 cr=060, etc. If your course is already in the computer and you are merely changing the BA credit designation, please use ACTION CODE 4. DO NOT try to drop the course and re-add it with the BA credits. This is especially true for a course you originally added using a Special Permission Number. If you do need to drop a course, however, use ACTION CODE 3.
To hear your entire schedule after entering all of your courses, it is not necessary to call back. When the computer asks for your next action, simply press ACTION CODE 7#.
To hear any message repeated, press * *. To cancel a transaction prior to completion, press * 9.
During the Unrestricted Add/Drop Period, you will be able to make changes to your course schedule, or listen to your schedule, using RTTRS. The telephone system will be available during this time Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to Midnight, and Saturday, 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. During this period, there will be no restrictions by degree credits. The RTTRS Schedule for making add/drops once classes start and the new term begins is in the Class/Hour Schedule of Classes Directory.
Term bills, calculated on the basis of the total credits for which you
advance register, will be mailed to your home address. Payments received
after the due date will be subject to a $125.00 late payment fee. The University
is not responsible for the non delivery of billing notices or payment;
it is the responsibility of the student to ensure that his/her tuition
and fees are paid on time. Bill payment is the final act of registration.
If your bill is not satisfied, you are not registered. All students, including
those on Financial Aid, must return a bill to the Bursar's Office.
Using RTTRS, you can verify your newly selected courses immediately after entering them via the telephone. While most students do not require advisor approval prior to using RTTRS, we urge all students to consult with an academic advisor prior to registering for classes. You will be responsible for the applicability of your course selections. You are therefore, urged to select your courses carefully and deliberately. Should you have difficulty using RTTRS, OR, if you are unable to register using RTTRS because of a course prerequisite, a time conflict, or maximum credits, the Registrar's Office will provide in-person assistance according to the indicated schedule listed in the Schedule of Classes.
Make an appointment with your advisor or your Academic Services Center now. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE.
Registration is on a FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS within the listed timetable. You are encouraged to register early for the best selection of courses. If you get a busy signal, hang up and call back in a few minutes, or try one of the other available numbers.
