 UMDNJ to Rutgers Transfer

Policy

Students admitted to a joint PhD program between the Graduate School- New Brunswick and the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at UMDNJ may choose to register in either school during their first year.  After their first year they choose a principle adviser and from that point on register in the school in which the adviser is a faculty member.  If the student first registers at UMDNJ-GSBS and chooses a faculty adviser in the Graduate School - New Brunswick, the student will transfer to Rutgers University Graduate School - New Brunswick for the remainder of the program.

The courses taken in the first year at UMDNJ are posted to the new Rutgers transcript according to these procedures.

 Procedures

Students are admitted to the Graduate School by the Admissions Office.  The Graduate Registrar creates  term segments for the prior two semesters into which the Records Department will enter the UMDNJ courses as follows.

Upon receipt of a memo from the Administrator of the Graduate School and a transcript for the UMDNJ work, all UMDNJ courses and grades are entered on the Rutgers transcript as exchange courses.  The grades are to be included in the Rutgers GPA.  The CEEB code RU1468 is used.

 Authorization

These procedures were approved by Vice Dean Harvey Waterman in July, 1996.
